USAA Renter's Insurance
USAA is unique in that it offers insurance and financial products to military members and their families. As such, USAA is tuned in to the distinct differences that military personnel and their families face with their insurance needs.
USAA started in 1922 by military officers who sought to create a member-owned insurance company. USAA has grown since then, becoming a Fortune 200 financial services company, but has always maintained its roots and dedication to the military.
Among USAA’s awards are:
- J.D. Power and Associates — Recognitions from 1999-2004 for customer satisfaction, with the "Chairman's Award" for Excellence in Customer Service earned in 2002
- Fortune — Most Admired Companies (1999-2004)
- Forrester Research — USAA named best company for customer advocacy in the "What Satisfies Financial Customers" study (2004)
Don’t leave anything to chance – and don’t assume that if anything happens to your possessions, that the landlord’s insurance will cover the cost. Renter’s insurance is the responsibility of the tenant, and for a very low monthly cost, it can make all the difference should anything happen to your belongings as a result of fire, natural disaster, or theft. Many renters think that renter’s insurance is unnecessary because they don’t own a lot, but if you took a few minutes to estimate the value of your possessions, you would probably find the amount to be significant. Significant enough that, if anything happened to those items, you would be hit hard financially when trying to replace them.
Renter’s insurance provides inexpensive peace of mind so that you don’t have to worry about replacing your possessions if anything happens to them. And, because some military personnel need to re-locate often, renter’s insurance can travel with you. USAA renter’s insurance will even cover your personal possessions during shipment or while in storage.
Since USAA is specific to the military, you must be affiliated with the military to be eligible for a renter’s insurance policy. Requirements include one of the following:
- Active duty officer and enlisted personnel
- National Guard and Reserve officer and enlisted personnel
- Officer candidates in commissioning programs
- Former spouses and adult children of USAA members
