Florida Home Insurance
As a homeowner in Florida, you are probably already aware of the fact that it is pretty vital that you protect your home and the belongings inside from the heavy barrage of storms that hit Florida each year. In fact, the State of Florida Insurance Commission recommends that all Florida homeowners carry comprehensive home insurance, including flood coverage.
New state provisions that were enacted into law this year have been designed to protect Florida homeowners from skyrocketing rates due to yearly hurricane damage. This is good news for Florida insurance consumers who are looking to protect themselves from hurricane and flood damage, especially since Florida has been named the fourth most expensive state to insure a home by Forbes.com.

The new state provisions will, in part, keep insurance companies from not renewing homeowners policies until 90 days after a hurricane-damaged home is completely repaired. They will also stop the practice of only paying the lower cash value for repairs and contents of a home rather than the full replacement cost. Additionally the provisions will create a mandatory insurance agent checklist detailing what a policy does – and more importantly – does not cover and increase up to 50% the amount insurers have to offer to pay for a home that needs to be rebuilt following extensive damage. Lastly they will require insurance companies to disclose in detail what hurricane deductibles could cost the homeowner.
All of these changes could spell great relief for a state that sees a lot of action during hurricane season. As a homeowner in Florida, you definitely don't want to be caught in a storm without adequate homeowners insurance. Especially since you can easily get a homeowners insurance rate quote right now. With very little effort you can get a quote and discuss your insurance policy options with an agent to decide what's best for you and your family.
