A+ Auto and Home Insurance Plus is an arm of California Casualty, a long standing underwriter founded in 1914. A+ is the brand name for California Casualty’s group policy programs. While A+ is a program for “affinity groups and their members,” individual policies are available through California Casualty.
California Casualty has been in the group plan auto and home insurance business for over fifty years, and they are currently licensed operators in thirty eight states. Their primary focus has been educator and public employee groups, and today they have over one hundred such associations enrolled in their coverage area.

Unique features included in their group homeowner’s policies include:
- Inflation Protection: As a matter of course, the company automatically increases the amount of your homeowner coverage based on annual inflation.
- Computer Protection: The homeowner policy provides up to $5,000 in coverage for your computer, whether it is used at home or at work. This includes coverage for a company computer that you have borrowed from your employer’s business. Higher levels of coverage area available.
- Professional Liability for Teachers and School Employees: This feature makes it clear that A+ does a lot of business with teacher’s unions and associations. The company provides “limited excess professional liability coverage” up to the policy limit for any teacher or school employee. This means that the homeowner’s policy provides professional liability coverage for educators and school employees, along with the personal liability coverage that is standard with homeowner’s policies.
- Recourse Process: This is a commitment from A+ to engage in some sort of arbitration over disputed claims through your member organization that instituted the group policy arrangement with the insurance company.
