AIG Renter's Insurance

American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is a leading international insurance organization offering worldwide property-casualty and life insurance, as well as retirement and financial services. Renters can benefit from one of AIG’s two comprehensive renter’s insurance policies.

Most renters don’t consider this type of coverage because they feel it is unnecessary or believe that damage or theft of their property is an extension of their landlord’s coverage. The landlord will have insurance that covers the building, but any tenant’s belongings are not included in the owner’s policy.

Unfortunately, should anything happen to your personal property and you are uninsured, you will not receive any reimbursement for your damaged or stolen items. Renter’s insurance provides the peace of mind that you are protected from unforeseeable circumstances.

Renter’s insurance provides coverage for your personal property in the event of a burglary or fire. Renter’s insurance also includes protection should someone suffer an injury while visiting your rented apartment or house. This is valuable protection should someone decide to sue you or if you need to pay their medical expenses.

AIG's Renter's Insurance Policies

AIG’s renter’s insurance includes two options, each designed to match the unique needs of renters:

  • Homesite Renters Express Program – designed for tenants of apartment complexes looking for basic coverage, with levels of coverage at $15,000, $25,000 or $35,000 for personal property. Renters Express insures against fire, lightening, smoke, windstorm, hail, theft, and water damage; however, there are many hazards that are excluded from this basic policy (such as explosion, smoke, vandalism, falling objects, volcanic eruption, and others).
  • Homesite Standard Renters Program – provides broader coverage for personal property with higher levels of coverage ($36,000 up to $100,000) and higher liability limits. Coverage is quite comprehensive, including most of the hazards that are excluded from the Renters Express program. Optional coverages can be added as well to customize the policy.

Carefully review each policy to fully understand the coverage and terms.
